Playground battles, friendly rivalries and the contest that meant everything. The thrill of winning, the agony of losing and the quest to beat your nemesis. Games of chance, games of skill, and the games you never quite understood. We want to hear about the moments when the stakes felt real. British Sign Language Interpreted Event ✋✋

This month we are excited to especially welcome stories from the Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent (DDN) community. Story Slam is a place for everyone and we are pleased to announce that our March show will be interpreted entirely into British Sign Language! We will have two talented interpreters working throughout the event to interpret everyone's stories into and from BSL, allowing those who are deaf or hard of hearing to take part in the show. As always our venue has step-free access to the seating and stage, and several spots for attendees using wheelchairs.

We are also very happy to announce that the show will be hosted by our guest compere Keron Day, an incredible actor, writer and DDN activist. Keron has appeared in shows such as Sex Education (Netflix) and Kirkmoore (BBC).
This month our theme is Bodies Stories of everything physical, visceral, and deeply human. Tales of strength, endurance, and pushing your limits. Moments of fragility, vulnerability and injury. Pain, bliss and endurance. Scars, tattoos, and the aches and pains of a life lived fully. Growing up, growing old, and everything in between. Hearing, seeing and feeling. The marathon you ran, the accident you recovered from, or the way your body tells the story of your life. Whether it’s celebration, challenge, or change, come share your stories of bodies on March 16th at the Wardrobe Theatre.

Stories of exploring new places, navigating unfamiliar terrain, or retracing your steps back home. The maps you made for your big trip, directions scribbled down on scrap paper and the time you fell off the map. Stories of journeys, detours, and destinations. Churches, rivers and town halls. The wild nights out that spiralled out of control, the outfit that really shouldn't work but it does, and the plans that went hilariously wrong and right all at the same time. Spilled drinks, broken heels, and unexplainable stains. Tousled hair, messy relationships and emotional meltdowns. The projects that crumbled, the times you lost the plot, and the time you somehow managed to piece it all back together again. Chases, races and disasters. Workouts, make-outs and shouting matches. This month our theme is Trick or Treat. 🎃🍭👻 Stories of surprises, pranks, gifts, and sweets. Mischief, mayhem, and tricks that caught you off guard. Ghoulish costumes, terrifying masks, and the unexpected knocks at the door. From harmless jokes and light-hearted tricks, to the pranks that went too far. Threats, bribes, and ransoms. Neighbours, strangers, and that eerie encounter in the middle of the night. Tales of fear, retribution and gifts that weren't what they seemed. Whether it's Halloween night mischief or life's unexpected surprises, come share your stories of tricks and treats on October 20th at the Wardrobe Theatre.

We're very happy to announce that Story Slam returns to Weston on September 29th. And this time our theme is Adventure! 🎒🏕️ Stories of everything wild, bold, and thrilling. Ambitious expeditions, spontaneous road trips, and journeys into the unknown. Climbing mountains, sailing to a nearby city, or getting lost in a foreign country. The rush of adrenaline, the excitement of the chase, and the unexpected detours along the way. Backpacking through unfamiliar landscapes, surviving against the odds, or embarking on a daring escape. The adventures you planned, the ones that you didn't, and the scars that you got along with way. Whether it’s the thrill of exploration, a leap into the unknown, or a moment of pure spontaneity, we want to hear your stories about Adventure.
